Forest Fire Threatens Rockynook Mass Fire Attacks Plymouth County

A massive forest blaze fanned by southwest winds rages from Darby toward Rockynook in Kingston and Plympton. The fire, covering about 60 square miles, has destroyed vast pine and birch stands and endangers the Cobb & Drew factory unless winds shift again. Local volunteers and railroad crews battle the flames with limited water in rugged, rocky terrain amid dense smoke and strong odors.

In dense fog the Joy Line steamer Aransas from Boston to New York was struck by coal barge Glendower southeast of Pollock Rip Shoals Lightship at 1:30 AM. Exploding Lamp Triggers Dorchester House Fire

A Dorchester dwelling at 36 Granite Avenue suffered a fire early yesterday when a lamp exploded on the first floor. James Casey and family fled in nightclothes with Patrolman Spinney aiding their escape. The building, owned by W A Clayton, sustained about 500 in damage.
