Lawyers Taken In Conspiracy In Suffolk Savings Case

Charles Hall Adams consul of Nicaragua and Liberia and William W. Risk attorney at 18 Tremont Street were arrested on charges of conspiracy to steal more than 10 000 from deceased Massachusetts depositors in the Suffolk Savings Bank. They pleaded not guilty and were held on 5000 bail. The case stems from a three year probe by Attorney General Malone and involves unclaimed deposits dating to 1902 totaling 20 780 27 with names including Jackson Sandbank Hyde Collins Avery Cross Davis Pink. Eldredge Custody Battle Ends With Grandfather

In Santa Barbara on May 6 H Fisher Eldredge received custody of Master Eldredge Shaw to hand the boy to his Boston father James F Shaw. The California order lapses outside state lines though Judge Crow appeared moved by both sides pleadings. The Portsmouth brewer’s petition influenced the decision as the matter was put to rest locally.

Copley Square Illuminated by New Arc Lamps Trial

Under city authority Edison Company will compare Gilbert arc lamps with General Electric flaming lamps in Copley Square. Three flaming lamps replace seven Gilbert lamps at a cost of 468 and 828 dollars yearly respectively. The lamps will be switched at 7:45 and 8:15 for five minutes to allow public comparison.

Tragedy Near Crosby Farm Sparks Attempted Clue

Mrs. Gleason ran from the Crosby estate with a throat wound as Edward Gately found her in a rhubarb patch clutching a blood stained note reading Tom Lynch did it Gleason 95 Medford Street. Lynch was seen nearby and fled toward Mystic Street as the woman collapsed near Senator J Howell Crosby’s home. Page 3 continues.

Mayor vetoes 235000 loan items in city bill

Mayor Hibbard sent back the annual loan bill vetoing six items totaling 235000 and suggesting four substitutions totaling 95000 plus 30000 for sanitary work at six playgrounds. Action was deferred to the next meeting after brief remarks by Councilman Brennan.
