The master bakers face a wage dispute with union demands. An $8000 annual cost to label unions could widen the conflict as nonunion bakers are invited to supply labor. What This Year s Legislature Has And Has Not

The Massachusetts Legislature's present session will likely last until June 15 or later. It has rejected Governor Bates's recommendations, including corporation tax payment, liquor license fee shares, a reorganization of the State Board of Agriculture, and woman suffrage. The inheritance tax faces defeat in the Senate, no new labor laws have passed, and the semicolon law remains unrepealed. The 1904 legislature, like Congress, will be remembered for doing little beyond spending money.
