Washington May 6 The House committee on post offices and post roads authorized Chairman Henderson to report a postal fractional note bill. It would let the postmaster general issue one dollar fractional currency notes to postmasters nationwide and sell them at face value for bearer payment at any US post office within six months of issue. If not redeemed, holders may forward the note for payment. Postmasters would receive 0.25 percent compensation on gross issue for issuing and paying these notes.
London May 6 reports another railway assault with potential murder charge. Amy Faulkner, a dressmaker, was found near the rails by men near Leeds. She said she was attacked in a carriage compartment and her assailant threw her from the carriage.
