Man Killed Shelter Note: 77-year-old Howe Dies Saving Bulldog

Mr Howe aged 77 was strolling with his pet bulldog when the dog darted into Buttonwoods streetcar tracks. He pushed the animal aside but was struck by an electric car and killed. He leaves a daughter, Mrs Arthur Stevenson, living in Jamaica Plain Boston.

Davida River Discovery Expands Map by Nearly 1000 Miles

Explorer recounts naming a new river the Davida after mapping an unknown watercourse of about 1000 miles. The upper reaches were hidden from all but local Indians, while the lower stretch remained known only to a few rubber prospectors. Thirteen crew members of the Leyland line freight steamship Columbian were rescued from a small boat and are en route to Boston aboard the Franconia. A second boat with 19 men remains adrift south of Sable Island, raising fears of a third missing vessel. The burning ship had no passengers and was bound for New York from Antwerp with general cargo.
