Police in Manchester arrest Valway near Elm Street transfer station after he provides a plausible alias Edward F Ordden claiming to work at Concord State Insane Asylum. Officer Wood then arrests Van Buskirk, whose missing index finger and a pig foot birthmark confirm the target.
For the first time this year the Republican organization has shown its hand in the House against a measure. The income tax, opposed by Republican conservatives, is being flattened out by the steam roller and its certain defeat is predicted by the machine men in the House today.
Washington pressure reaches the State House as leaders unite to curb a rising radical measure. The debate over restoring direct popular voting for U S Senators and reinstating an income tax rages, with votes expected soon. Brown of Medford leads the anti tax faction while Riley of Malden and Dean of Wakefield push the opposing view.

Captain Scott of Scott Wrecking Co. relayed word that Tasco would assist. fog and dense interference hindered wireless messages across southern New England. Details identify Santurce as a Bath, Maine port vessel owned by Harlan & Hollingsworth, 1836 gross tons, 11% net, 255 feet long, with 1100 horsepower engines, manned by 21. Ligonier, 3737 gross tons, 2396 net, 352.5 feet long, 46.4 feet beam, 26.2 feet draft, owned by J. M. Guffey Petroleum Co., departed from Port Arthur April 24 under Captain Cates en route to Beverly.
New York May 3 The tangle of conflicting reports about the marriage of Miss Ethel Croker to John J Breen riding master and the son of Richard Croker is today even more tangled with new statements and denials emerging from the scene.
Samuel Engler Hoboken justice of the peace reportedly married the couple on Thursday and later denied it. He examined a photograph of Miss Croker and said it was the Miss Croker he married to Breen. Engler also stated the bride was not Richard Croker’s daughter and that Breen was not the instructor.
Two boys Albert Vincent aged six and John Gusney nine drowned after falling into a mill raceway in Rogers Village during after school play. They were alone when their bodies were recovered following a search prompted by their absence from home.
