Fire broke out shortly after 11 tonight in the Orpheum Theatre on East Elm Street Brockton causing about 15000 dollars in damage. The blaze started in the upper part of the building and threatened the entire structure triggering a general alarm due to the thickly settled district.

A fire broke out on the roof of the Treasury Building about 2 45 this morning threatening the upper floors housing important documents. Fire alarms summoned nearly all district fire units and hundreds of government workers before crews gained control just after 3 o'clock.
Returns from 421 of 3382 precincts show Albert J. Beveridge ahead of Senator Harry S. New by 800 votes in the Indiana Republican primary for the U S Senate. Beveridge totals 22 330 to New 21 513 across 60 of 98 counties.
William Beverly Powell, New England manager for R. G. Dun Mercantile, shot his wife at their Chestnut Hill mansion on 39 Essex Road shortly after 5 pm and then killed himself. Servants state he appeared to become insane after entering the home during dinner, accusing his wife, widow of R. H. White, of a matter not disclosed.
