Mayor Fitzgerald Calls for Higher Auto Fees to Fund State Roads
Boston Mayor John F. Fitzgerald objects to the Chamber of Commerce stance on dividing automobile fees. He argues for increasing fees to support State roads, or distributing funds to cities and towns, noting current maintenance costs and the disproportionate burden on Boston. He cites maintenance vs construction costs and suggests using higher fees to lower the State tax or fund regional needs.
