Specially cautioned to watch for migratory residents, the police remind assessors to record the name and occupation of every male 2% years of age or over with residence in the visited house. They must report the May 1 residence and answer the officer’s questions on duration of stay and other residences to determine bona fide residency.
Police officers are instructed to canvass every house store and warehouse on their beat to list men 20 years old or over resident on May 1 1902. Each officer must submit separate blank cards with name age occupation and addresses and mark probable nonresidents if unsure. The force prepares to enroll eligible males in Boston with strict duties and no one night stands.
