Bridgeport Woman Bound Over in Criminal Operation Case

Washington, March 30. Justice Brown announced the Supreme Court’s opinion on Pearsall's bid to block the Great Northern and Northern Pacific consolidation. The court reversed the circuit and allowed the merger, citing that Minnesota’s 1874 law did not bar the executive right to acquire competing lines, and that such provisions may not create a monopoly.

The Commonwealth v Murphy tested the constitutionality of 1893 Act 267 121 banning carrying firearms on drill or parade by groups. In Chicago on March 30 Judge Horton heard a motion to quash indictments against 261 bucket shop proprietors. Attorney Riddle argued that the Board of Trade charter can be void if bucket shop operations occur on the floor. The court indicated possible charter revocation if proof supports the claim. Boston Transit Commission to Remove Fifteen Buildings in Triangle

The commission opened bids for removing chiefly six brick and nine frame buildings at Shawmut avenue and Tremont street. President Moore’s Appeal Deferred by Supreme Court

The full bench of the Supreme Court took under advisement the embezzlement case against J. Lowell Moore, late president of the Globe Investment Company. Moore, arrested after the company went into receivership on charges of embezzling 5544.50, was indicted and convicted in the Superior Court last fall and appealed for final determination with Richard Stone for Moore and First Assistant District Attorney Sughrue representing the Commonwealth.
