The Federal Council adopted a bill to raise the German army by 4 000 officers 15 000 noncommissioned officers and 116 965 privates. The peace strength of the active army climbs to about 870 000 men with the colors.

JAIL WOMAN FOUND GUILTY IN SHOPLIFTING CASE

Annie Speare, alias Annie Cohen, a New York shoplifter, was convicted yesterday in Police Court by Judge Wentworth and sentenced to four months at Deer Island. She appealed and was held for $500 at the Superior Court. Rose Smith defaulted on her charge.

Jewish Jurors Formally Granted Kosher Meat On Jury Duty

Chief Justice Aiken issued an order permitting Jewish jurors to receive Kosher meat while serving on juries statewide. A juror in a civil case requested Kosher meat at a hotel last week but the proprietor had none.

Boston Chamber of Commerce group to tour South America

35 Baltimore businessmen from the Boston Chamber of Commerce will begin a three month itinerary April 24 from South Station. The plan includes Kingston Jamaica, the Canal Zone, the western coast of South America, Valparaiso, Port of Spain Trinidad, and a return voyage. Mayor Fitzgerald and Colonel Henry Kincaide spoke on the trip’s value and support from the State Department.

Juries in the Superior Court awarded substantial sums for injuries. Annie Mitchell received 2000 for injuries from a Dudley street terminal crowd incident on Sept 10, 1910, plus her husband earned 150 for loss of her services. Lawrence C.
