Frank L. Vanderlip, president of National City Bank of New York, reportedly broke all American railroad records today in an effort to reach his dying mother, finishing 28 minutes behind death. The note appears in a New York Central officers statement and continues on Page 10.
Robert F. Blodgett aged 15 and his sister Ruth H. 14 fought for an hour and a half to save their 12 Mason Terrace home in Brookline from a fire. They called the fire department by telephone as the blaze grew, and about $10,000 in damage occurred before extinguishment. the children's parents were away on a tour of the South.

Cumberland Maryland March 28 Miss Marion C Spier a trained nurse died at her home after kissing Mrs Virginia Callan Carder wife of Dr George L Carder at Allegany Hospital The patient requested the kiss while dying and the nurse contracted the same blood poisoning illness and died days later.
Edwin Tucker of 3313 North Twelfth Street faced a Black Hand demand for $1000 but chose to give up his wooden leg instead. He left the package required by the note at a designated spot and recovered the empty bundle the next day, noting the threat without fear.
