Mayor Fitzgerald's purity squad will censor performances at the Globe Theatre and Shubert. If lines or scenes offend morals the censors will demand edits or the shows close. The mayor cites The Easiest Way as an example of unbleachable content.
Representatives from the Mayor's office and the Police Commissioner will compare notes on potential board members. The Mayor cites censorship ridicule as a barrier to public service, noting uncertain participation beyond the known clerks Timothy Butler and John Casey.
J E K Powell baggagemaster on the Dixie flyer died at Waycross hospital after a trestle collapse over the Alapaha River near Tifton. The death toll rises to nine as rescue teams report all bodies recovered and remaining injured not in danger.
F B Grinnell of 447 Washington street Brookline reported a bag of gems missing or stolen while traveling from New Bedford. The leather wrist bag carried by Mrs Grinnell contained two solitaire diamond rings and other gems. Police will get a descriptive list today as the couple search after reaching Back Bay station and returning home with their loss.
In Portsmouth New Hampshire on March 26 authorities search for the owner of a woman's necklace to help solve the murder of Private J. E. Rasmussen, 28, of the prison ship Southery. Rasmussen's mutilated body was found in the Kittery baseball grounds near the York branch of the Boston and Maine railroad. An autopsy by navy yard officials followed the discovery. Corporal J. I. Ganson, attached to the prison ship, is involved in the investigation.
John Shepard head of the Shepard Norwell Company marked his 77th birthday at the Pine Forest Inn in Summerville South Carolina. He and Mrs Shepard spent the day receiving well wishers and he sent thanks by telegram to the Boston Post for the kind messages from relatives friends and business associates.

In Woburn on March 26 David Lindberg spotted two children’s bodies beneath the water near the pond edge after being drawn to a red tam-o'-shanter floating on Cummings Pond. The pair were found with wistful faces and arms raised as if seeking aid.
Fred Cramp aided Lindberg to pull from icy water the bodies of Francis four and Grace six Weberg children. No witness saw the drowning. They had left home near 28 Winter Street to pick pussy willows and were returning when the ice failed. The boy clutched some willow sprays as the girl lay nearby. Their father is in the navy and missing from home.
A committee of school teachers led by Misses Backs Leonard Bigelow Regan and Martin met the Mayor to press for higher teacher wages. The Mayor expressed sympathy and agreed to attend the legislative hearing next Wednesday evening at the State House.
New York March 26 The Washington Square fire leaves 141 dead with 12 more critical as investigators probe culpability. Victims include about ten women for every man and many are Jews and Italians from the East Side and nearby Italian quarter. The coroner's inquiry, city department probes, and district attorney Whitman plan prosecutions, with grand jury review to follow.
