Captain Walter S. Eaton, acting district chief of the marine fleet, demanded a launch for Fireboat 44. Joseph Keating of 2 Farragut Court South Boston was arrested on a manslaughter charge and taken to East Fourth Police Station two hours after the crash. His employer R S Brine bailed him out later. Keating says a child was playing near the gutter and ran under his truck.

Woman slashes husband after quarrel in Gloucester

In Gloucester William Murray's wife, awakened by his drunken abuse, grabbed a carving knife and slashed him multiple times. Neighbors called police. a physician treated Murray at home. The wife was jailed on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Lynn Boy Killed After Freight Train Ride

Lynn police received a report from Kennebunk Maine that Eugene Southey an 18 year old of 79 Fayette street Lynn was found dead beside railroad tracks early yesterday morning. It is believed he was stealing a ride on a freight train and was probably run over. Southey left home Monday and his parents have had no word since.
