Residents describe the storm as it tore through six western states and devastated multiple cities. Omaha reports widespread ruin in the residential district with over 2500 homeless. Storms across six states cause heavy loss of life and widespread damage. Estimates tally about 500 dead, 3000 injured, and up to 5000 buildings destroyed as telegraph and phone lines fail. President pledges aid while recovery lags and a new cyclone threatens eastern routes.
A basement fire at Hart Hospital, 95 Moreland Street Roxbury, was halted last night after attendants alerted Miss Bertha Hart. Nurses and training school girls joined the effort, keeping patients safe from destruction.
Volunteers clad in kimonos seized buckets brooms and extinguishers under Miss Hart to fight a blaze at the hospital laundry. They prepared patients for possible evacuation and coordinated with police and fire departments. The fire, found when flames were already shooting from the roof, burned for about twenty minutes before apparatus arrived and brought it under control.
President Wilson began work on the tariff as a top administration task. He met with Representative Oscar W. Underwood at the White House to review the House draft and plan strategy to move the tariff bill through Congress.

Mayor Fitzgerald told a Chamber of Commerce committee that he did not favor toll increases for all riders but supported a slight rise in tolls for automobiles on the East Boston ferries. He discussed the proposal with the committee yesterday.
An executive session of new directors at the Boston Real Estate Exchange was held behind closed doors at the Boston City Club last night. John J. Martin was elected president and Charles Judkins treasurer. An executive committee will later appoint a secretary. Twelve prominent real estate men were chosen as vice-presidents.
Twenty or more fires were reported as the storm hit Omaha on March 24.
