Military headquarters in Columbus New Mexico says the U S wireless link to General Pershing s punitive expedition in northern Chihuahua is down. Casas Grandes station failed shortly before 6 pm leaving only field telegraph which had been largely unusable after being cut in multiple places between Columbus and the border area 30 miles south of the border.
Fifty Mexican soldiers were killed and over 100 injured when a train on the Pacific coast extension of the Mexican Central railway derailed at Sayula near Guadalajara. A loose rail caused the 15-car train load with troops and horses to plunge over a precipice and burn.
Ladderman Thomas J. Driscoll of Ladder 8 stepped on a nail while fighting a blaze at the Elite bowling alleys on the third floor of 258 Washington Street. A radiator overheated causing about 25 in losses. Driscoll was taken to Relief Hospital and later returned to quarters.
Five year old Catharine Tracy of 407 Washington street Brighton suffered severe burns when her dress caught fire from a gas heater yesterday afternoon. She lies on the dangerous list at St Elizabeth's Hospital Brighton.

Deputy Sheriff G Ralph Tillinghast was shot and Deputy Sheriff Nathan Colvin assaulted as pursuing search parties with rifles scoured the woods all night. Eleven captives were recaptured with ring leaders still at large.

Deputy Colvin was beaten and treated. his injuries are not life threatening.
