Washington March 20 The House debated the bonded extension bill with Mr Willis warning of bankruptcy without relief amid tax agitation. Mr Cox of New York delivered a long tariff speech urging reductions and criticizing protection, while Mr Allison announced urgent appropriations and Mr Morrill discussed sugar duties. The session adjourned after calls for navy contracts, education bill debates, and a conference on military academy funds.
In the House, the Virginia case Garrison versus Mayo ended with a report finding Garrison entitled to a seat. Mayo defended himself, arguing the capitation tax act was unconstitutional and would favor his claim if votes were counted. In St Louis on March 20 three men named Lewis Freeman and Anderson boarded freight trains near East St Louis and robbed cars with revolvers. A posse led by Alderman Green pursued them six miles from the city after a 40 shot exchange. all three were captured and jailed. Green was wounded in the knee and Anderson in the side and arm.
The New York State Brewers and Malsters association opened its fourth semiannual convention in New York on March 20. The group aims to protect its members by opposing adverse laws and by supporting public officers favorable to the industry.

Obstruction on the track is suspected. crews and officials injured assessed. track damage reported over 200 feet.
The Press reports that Hon. William L. Putnam of Portland filed a motion in the United States circuit court on behalf of trustees under the second mortgage in Mercantile Trust company in equity vs Portland and Ogdensburg railroad company. The motion requests the appointment of a receiver for the railroad and its New Hampshire appurtenances, and seeks approval and cooperation with Maine’s supreme judicial court on the receiver’s rights and duties.
Columbus Ohio March 20 The Gill Car manufacturing company was assigned this evening. Assets are estimated at about 490000 dollars with liabilities around 260000 dollars.
The House met with Mr Brackett in chair. Reports and committee actions included amendments to aqueduct statutes, Taunton land access, pawned apparel retention, and a earn-out for wounds from Hoosac tunnel. A Boston aldermanic district plan was outlined. Cambridge water bill dominated the afternoon, with debates on limits, cross-town supply, pollution safeguards, and eventual engrossment defeat.

Patrolman Herbert W. Kendall of the fourth division, badly injured during an arrest at No 4 Boylston place, was reported comfortable Thursday night with near certainty of recovery. James Donovan, wounded by Kendall in self defense, is praised by former comrades from Company B Massachusetts Cavalry for his bravery and fidelity.
In PirTspuRIG Jim Conners outpointed Jack Davis after 72 rounds and collected a $200 cap as Davis was arrested at ringside while Conners fled. In New York Charles Mitchell defeated Joe Deming in a soft glove match for $250 a side at Tarnhall.
Philadelphia dispatch reports the death of Charles Langheimer nicknamed Dicken's Dutchman. He died in the penitentiary and was buried in Potter's Field after serving 50 years of a 75 year life sentence. He was not a prisoner at death but was allowed to return to the prison, which he regarded as his home to die.
New York dated March 20 reports a city notice issued today announcing price reductions effective Friday March 21. East bound rates to Chicago and to New York are set at eighth class 15 cents seventh class 20 cents and ninth class 25 cents with live hogs to New York and Boston at 20 cents per 100 pounds.
