New England Milk Producers Seek Higher March Price
A 1914 letter from Richard Patter secretary of the New England Milk Producers Association urges Boston milk contractors to set a six month price starting April 1 at not less than 33 cents per eight and one half quart can for the middle zone with other zones in proportion. The farmers claim middlemen gain equally in summer and winter while farmers lose a penny per quart, and they offer to defer to the Boston Chamber of Commerce for a fair decision.
