The first blast blew the drum housing 600 feet down the slope and the mine fan was damaged, delaying air return. In Norfolk the Colorado sails toward Venezuela amid international tension and creditor concerns.
A gang assaulted a respectable citizen at the Chelsea bridge Charlestown end Saturday night pulling him from a wagon robbing him and leaving him unconscious. The incident adds to a string of gang and terrorism acts reported in Greater Boston with other cases of pickpockets and a major Charlestown firebug fire.
