Mayor Curtis Vetoes Street Opening Order in Boston Gas Debate
The Boston mayor vetoed an Aldermen approved measure that would prevent laying gas mains in streets without city board orders. He argues the panel lacks legal power, citing Chapter 314 of 1885 and Chapter 266 of 1885 along with 1891 statutes. The veto notes the Gas Commission act and prior street authority, delaying the board’s action pending a reg meeting.
