The schooner Zimrji S. Wallingford loaded with lumber from Georgetown South Carolina to Boston caught fire near Motom bin Inlet and burned to the waterline. The crew were rescued by life-savers and transferred to the tug Sampson at Lewes Delaware. The cargo was insured for 12000 dollars but the vessel was uninsured. The three masted schooner of 281 tons was built in Bath Maine in 1882 and measured 127 feet by 20 feet by 9 feet. owned by George Harris Jr Co of Philadelphia.

Banan Rescues La Plata After Dismasting Off New Jersey
The steamer Banan, arriving today, towed the dismasted Nova Scotian schooner La Plata 250 miles east by south of Sandy Hook. La Plata, sailing from St John, N B, to Providence, R I, lost its foremast in a Feb 27 squall with topmasts and rigging carried away. Minor injuries reported among crew. La Plata, consigned to J W Parker & Co of New York, was put under jury rig and continued voyage after being sighted March 15 by the Banan.

Submerged Hulk Reported Blocking Harbor Route Near Point Judith
Captain Van Esten of the Tuckahoe reports a submerged hulk, likely a sunken barge, held by anchors southeast from Point Judith Light about a third of the way to the whistling buoy. It lies in navigational path and endangers steamers. The Tuckahoe and tug Dean sighted the obstacle within 100 to 500 feet on separate occasions.

Wall Fire Tragedy Wabash Roundhouse At Toledo
A Toledo roundhouse of the Wabash railroad burned this forenoon. Three men died and nine were injured, most employees, while fighting the blaze. The roundhouse, a brick structure with capacity for twenty engines, was wrecked. six locomotives were damaged. Loss estimated at 75,000 to 100,000, insured.

Wreck of Slater Woollen mill boiler at Webster
A sixty horsepower boiler exploded at the Slater Woollen Company mill in Webster, tearing through the Domi tenement parlor and across Main Street. The blast damaged engine houses, furnaces, and wool, causing an estimated loss of 75000 dollars though no fatalities occurred. Proprietor H N Slater was in Boston and the factory cannot resume for a month.

Sarsfield Guards Parade with Guns Tests Law In Boston
Twelve members of the Sarsfield Guards carried muskets during the A O H St Patrick day parade on Hanover Street Boston. Captain James A Murphy volunteered to be arrested to test the statute defining firearms. Police planned a test case while permitting the parade. The rifles were modified by puncturing barrels and will be used to argue the arms were not firearms. Local officers and independent companies from Springfield and Worcester attended.

Fire destroys Cleveland newspaper building on Ontario Street
In Cleveland on March 17 the building housing World, A N Kellogg Newspaper Co and United Press on Ontario Street burned down, causing about 150000 in losses. The World’s loss is 75000, Kellogg’s 25000, with the building valued at 50000. The World opened an emergency office in the Arcade building and will publish as usual Monday.
