Noted Newbury Divorce Case Promises Striking Details
A divorce suit filed by Thompson Newbury against Mrs. Newbury is followed by a cross suit. Evidence at the hearing is said to promise a striking Bristol county case. Mrs. Newbury, previously married to Harold Dean Stickney, has a long society history as an artist model and Newport social figure. She testi fied in 1910 in Suffolk Superior Court alleging severe abuse by Stickney, prompting a later divorce. The couple wed in 1903 and 1911 respectively, with social prominence in New England. The breach arose from her alleged estrangement and Newport visits with skating rink activity linked to a polo player, Sergeant William Dugan, named as a corespondent by Newbury.
