An official investigator asserts Admiral Eaton did not die naturally. The death scene is reenacted for inquest officials as day and night guard follows the household. Stepdaughters recall the story while the widow may serve as chief witness as arrests loom.
March 17 Lowell mass. If Mary Belle Shedd daughter of Freeman Ballard Shedd marries and has issue the city of Lowell and several charities will lose nearly 1 000 000 dollars per his will filed today at Andover street Miss Shedd said she was not engaged to be married.
The will filed today provides Miss Shedd and her mother with lifetime income from the estate. If Miss Shedd dies unmarried, Lowell will receive 100000 for the Berry School in Rome Georgia and 100000 for the Moody School in Northfield. The Lowell General Hospital is to receive the remainder, with at least 100000 to fund a Freeman Ballard Shedd memorial building for incurable diseases. Other relatives are not named beneficiaries due to a prior trust arrangement.
Senator John W. Weeks addressed Melrose YMCA business leaders at their annual banquet held at the association rooms. He spoke on Past Legislation at Washington, outlining actions and implications for the era.
Washington March 17 The extra session called by President Wilson will assemble April 7 with only tariff revision measures on the agenda. Representative Oscar W Underwood chairman of Ways and Means says no general committees or other topics will be considered until tariff legislation advances.
The Ways and Means Committee adjourned after starting a tariff customs revision and lightly discussing a general income tax plan aimed at new revenue. The majority plans a likely 1 percent levy on incomes starting at $5000, pending final revenue estimates from 14 tax schedules.
Principal Thornton Jenkins condemned undignified dancing at Malden High School after a Friday concert. He stopped the orchestra early and warned that if the same style continued at the April junior prom he and Mrs. Jenkins would leave the hall. The incident involved bunny hug and turkey trot dancing among juniors.
Erie, March 17 The Niagara flagship of Commodore Perry lifted from Lake Erie’s bottom long ago rests within 50 feet of shore eight feet out of water. The ship is well preserved, rebuilding for the centennial of the battle will be small. Portholes remain visible and a musket wedged between hull timbers. The vessel is closely guarded.

Dr. Friedmann received invitations from 15 governors promising to suspend medical laws if he travels. A large Bellevue Hospital clinic demonstrated his alleged tuberculosis care with eleven patients treated in quick succession. Arthur Friedmann says he wants to help many more without charge, but hospital and government rules limit him.

Columbus March 17 Representative Louis P. Cappelle of Cincinnati introduced a bill to appoint a three member fashion commission by the Governor to prescribe the styles worn by women in Ohio and curb immorality he says is driven by immodest street dress.
Manuel de Fuentes Bustillo, who claimed to be a Spanish general, was accidentally asphyxiated in his hotel room in New York. A police officer forced the door and found his body. Bustillo had lived there since 1897 with two cats as companions.
Bustillo told the hotel owner he was a Spanish spy who rose to general rank before being ostracized for his record and failed love. He fled to America where his room yielded 30 year old documents, including a Spanish railway deed and a valuable will. Bustillo spoke many languages and was nicknamed the cat man for his constant cats.
New York police praise arrests in a long running taxicab robbery ring. Joseph Taylor, a chauffeur, confessed to leading the group and named confederates including Charles Francis Lorber. Taylor and Lorber were found armed with loaded revolvers.
Miss Maxine Elliott the American actress wed Anthony F. Wilding the noted tennis player at Nice. Wilding, Cambridge graduate and English barrister, recently quit tennis to focus on law. In 1906 he won the international Davis Cup singles final, breaking a tie between Australia and America.
A work train engine jumped the rails at Atlantic yesterday afternoon blocking the West Quincy branch of the New York New Haven Hartford from 4 80 to 7.00. Hundreds of passengers traveling to Boston were delayed at Montclair West Quincy or East Milton and many completed their trip by trolley.
Mystery surrounds the death of Elizabeth Cummings daughter of Mr and Mrs W T Cummings of 188 Cross Street Malden who died under peculiar circumstances a week ago Sunday. Police are reticent but say no inquest has been ordered while Inspector Greenleaf continues work on the case likely to be cleared up later this week.
