North Shore Drops Late in Trade League After Opening Win

Fire roars through hotel on Fifth Avenue end

Early flames erupted on the Fourth floor near Abner McKinley’s rooms. A hall boy tried to raise the alarm but the chain failed. Firemen rescued an elderly woman from a Fifth floor window with a daring transfer to safety. The blaze spread rapidly, and many guests escaped as crews fought the flames.
