The game began at 1 pm, reached move forty five after about four hours, then paused for a 7:30 pm recess. Steinitz had White and opened the game. Zukertort appeared to seek a draw at the break.

The inward tunnel express of Fitchburg struck a loaded ice cart owned by J. Peterson at a blind crossing near But trick's lumber yard at 8 o'clock. Driver John Green was thrown and dragged by the horses, receiving slight leg bruises. Engine front damaged. crossing has a history of fatal accidents and the company plans to close it.

Noted Confederate Captain Waddell Dies in Annapolis

Captain James I. Waddell commander of the Shenandoah and Maryland oyster police chief died in Annapolis Maryland on Monday. Born in North Carolina in 1824 he joined the U S Navy in 1848 served at Vera Cruz and later commanded the rebel cruiser Shenandoah sailing 58090 miles with 38 captures. He surrendered to Britain and avoided return to the United States. Also noted Horatio G Nelson died in Waltham and Zephaniah Goward 72, a Lowell real estate figure, collapsed with heart disease.

Shuttleworth Will Probate Leaves Dedham Beneficiaries

The will of Hannah Shuttleworth of Dedham W88 probated yesterday provides public bequests to Dedham Historical Society for land at High and Church streets and for books papers and furniture. Dedham Public Library receives 10000 for a building with investment until matching funds allow construction. Young Men's Christian Association gets 500 and the remainder goes to Dedham inhabitants as the Shuttleworth fund to be distributed by a poor overseers committee. Real estate constitutes the primary property.

Steamer Siberian Arrives with Passengers and Cargo

The Steamer Siberian from Glasgow reached port on March 4 with a full cargo of mise and 181 passengers 134 intermediate and 47 steerage. A gale from the southwest to northwest struck March 14 at 3 AM with heavy seas and hull squalls forcing engine slowdown.
