Medill, Chicago Tribune Proprietor, Dies in San Antonio

Joseph Medill, owner of the Chicago Tribune, died in San Antonio on March 11. Born April 6, 1826 in New Brunswick, he built The Forest City in Cleveland and merged papers to form the Cleveland Leader before buying the Chicago Tribune. He later held major ownership in Chicago’s newspaper scene.
