Autopsy Confirms Drowning in Sister Florence Case

Medical Examiner Swan and Durrell performed the autopsy revealing death by drowning with no violence and normal organs. Ralph Whittier identified the body and, at the undertaker Horace Litchfield’s, confirmed Florence’s coat and photograph prove the deceased is his sister Florence.

In Viterbo Italy March 15 a jury was secured for the trial of 36 Camorra members charged with murders of fellow thieves Gennaro Cuccolo and Maria Cuoccolo Cuoccolo. The indictment was lengthy and the jurors include professionals and merchants, indicating a potentially impartial proceeding.

Fire damages Dorchester church basement

An overheated basement furnace caused a fire at Stanton Avenue Methodist Church in Dorchester. The blaze, seen by Frank H. Putt across the street, caused about 2500 in damage but was confined to the basement. District Chief Taber ordered a second alarm due to the thickly settled district. The Rev Leopold A. Nies praised the firemen as the parish house next door remained undamaged.

Barnabee Hurt In Fall At Hotel Bartlett

Haverhill March 15 Henry C Barnabee, renowned concert singer and dean of comic opera comedians, slipped on a stair at the Hotel Bartlett and sustained a wrench to the right leg along with bruises and facial cuts. He was resting comfortably by late tonight with no serious injury reported.

Desperadoes Raid Levi Blumberg Store. Shot in Defense

At 9 o clock last night three men fired repeatedly during a jewelry store raid on Levi Blumberg at 1378 Washington Street opposite the Cathedral. Blumberg was shot in the chest but stood his ground, exchanging bullets with the robbers and forcing their retreat. The neighborhood witnessed the attack with little aid as Blumberg fought for his life.

Police capture after mass robbery attempt in Dorchester

Henry Shaw of the Hotel Rexford and Henry Harrison of Baltimore were chased by assailants through the South End. Shaw produced a revolver at Patrolman R. G. S. Reed and was captured in a vacant lot after a dramatic pursuit. The second suspect escaped toward East Brookline Street. Police suspect New York crooks sought loot, with Shaw found only a dollar.

Mexican Barracks Wrecked at Juarez

An attempted bombing at Juarez Mexico damaged barracks used by Mexican troops. Two insurrectos were wounded and captured as the town braces for possible war with sandbag breastworks and rifle loopholes in the old mission walls.

Mexican prisoners face civil trials after Juarez statement

An official Juarez statement says all Amer icans confined in Mexican prisons will have civil trials for sedition. Insurrectos may face summary military death penalties. Fifteen Americans and two Europeans are held at Casas Grandes federal jail awaiting transfer to Chihuahua for trial. Colonel Cuellar is wounded and prisoners are guarded in the adobe cell blocks with meager rations. Casas Grandes lies 150 miles from El Paso and has lacked food since March 6 after a defeat.
