Two warship classes approved by naval affairs committee

The House committee on naval affairs approved a plan to authorize two seagoing coastline battleships around 13 500 tons each at about 3 million dollars per ship, three armored cruisers at about 4 million each, and three protected cruisers at about 1 141 million each. It also rejected gunboats and set armor price limits, applying only to emergency armor for the Maine Missouri and Ohio under construction.
