Old Dominion Seeks Immediate Governing of Trust Fund
The Old Dominion Copper Mining and Smelting Company asks the Supreme Judicial Court to direct the New Iceland Trust Company to manage the $1 million fund created by Albert S. Bigelow for other beneficiaries. The request follows a 1910 decree ordering Bigelow to pay $2,223,772 for profits from the Baltimore sale, aimed at avoiding taxes on the company’s share. The state argues taxes apply if the money remains untaxed after April 1.
