The body of Rear Admiral Joseph Giles Eaton retired died suddenly at his West Norwell home Friday night and was buried in Lowell Mass. The death spurred State and county police to probe rumors of possible poisoning with investigations continuing as reports accumulated.
The New York Yacht Club declines Sir Thomas Lipton's challenge for the America's Cup next season. The club cites the 75 foot length limit at the waterline, which would bar vessels from 65 to 90 feet and contravene the deed of gift.
Sensational reports claim Reveres selectman Louis E. Vincent was doped into changing his vote on the chairmanship during a recess of the board a week ago last night. Residents of the popular summer resort town of Reverie are stirred by the allegations.

McDevitt has not attempted to justify charges and claimed no bribe offer after an initial $300 offer for support on a bill. He faces contempt of the Senate if he resists the sergeant at arms, who will produce the Senator at the proper time today as the Senate considers the rules committee order.
Mrs. Jessie Malloy aged 69 a Roxbury widow living alone at 15 Rockingham Place was found dead in bed by neighbors last night. Medical Examiner Watters ruled death from natural causes.
A noon fire at the Malden Y M C A injured two firefighters and caused about 50 000 in damage with total property loss estimated at 200 000. The trunk room on the fourth floor caught fire spreading to the fifth as St Clair English raised the alarm and Deputy Chief Nicholls ordered a citywide second alarm. The fire damaged a millinery shop a jewelry store and banking offices while firefighters contained the blaze to interior spaces.
The New York Yacht Club votes 40 to 0 to reject Sir Thomas Lipton’s challenge over the deed of gift rule requiring 65 to 75 feet waterline. The club cites that a 75 foot limit deprives it of selecting a vessel of its choice. The decision mirrors the 1907 stance and follows a meeting with over 300 members. Lipton previously sent Shamrocks to compete against 90 foot defenders.
