Fireman McCarthy to be Buried After North Street Fire

Hoseman Patrick J. McCarthy will be laid to rest with honors in Charlestown tomorrow after dying in the North street fire. Funeral services are set for 8 15 A M at his home 379 Main Street and a 9 A M Requiem at St Frances de Sales Church with Engine Company 8 and others escorting to Holy Cross cemetery. The Boston Protective Department and Engine 8 will provide escorts and mourning drapery for 30 days. McCarthy’s widow receives 1900 from the Boston Firemen's Mutual Relief Association and 1000 from the State fund. his children under 16 get 1 50 weekly, with a total pension of about 3000 provided by the city without exception. The family’s needs are emphasized as the brave fireman spent all on his children.

Tragedy at Farmington Ends in Double Suicide

In Farmington New Hampshire George B French shot and killed his fiancée Lets Pearl then killed himself in a fit of jealousy. The couple's nephew Alvah Pike attempted to intervene but was knocked aside. Pearl previously attended Rochester High School. Pearl's body was sent to Rochester for funeral services while French's body was taken to New Durham for burial.
