Mayor Fitzgerald returned to City Hall and spoke of gambling in high society circles at Palm Beach. He described ballroom attire crowds betting at feverish pace, with wealthy men and women gambling side by side for staggering stakes. Continued on page nine sixth column.
After three days in jail on default of 5000 bail ex State Senator Frank J Linehan was released at 9 45 PM. Bonds posted by Patrick J Sullivan of 1218 Washington Street and Joseph Scholl of Chelsea. He is charged as a party to alleged lumber frauds accused of robbing the city.
Linehan tells a Post reporter he will not be jailed again but warns that someone else will be held in connection with the case, a claim tied to ongoing proceedings.
Crowds at Mechanics Building and Horticultural Hall will disperse this evening as the ninth annual New England Automobile Dealers Association show closes. Vehicles including autos trucks and commercial machines will depart for factories buyers or return to service across Boston and New England.
