No Commission On Markets Meets With Board Rebuff

The Board of Aldermen rejected 10 to 3 a motion to appoint a commission to probe the market lease issue and leases. Alderman Kelly, with mayoral backing, urged a three member panel including a land expert, a lessee appointee, and a disinterested person to investigate. Several aldermen argued against, noting the board can handle the matter itself and criticizing actions around departmental abolitions and other orders.
