No Prospect of Cheaper Bread This Year Says Wheat Expert
The Wheat Expert cautions that a free market could push wheat to $3.50 a bushel, citing controls in London and limited export freedom. He predicts 1919 crops may be 10 to 20 percent higher, but global shortages persist due to war famine, seed loss, and fertilizer scarcity. He warns there may be no bread to waste worldwide next year despite funds, and suggests the entire next year’s crop could be marketed without government loss.
