President orders immediate arming of Navy vessels and guns crews for armed neutrality. Congress is summoned to meet on April 16 to authorize actions. Details of submarine measures remain secret while full executive authority is asserted.
George and Charles Rollins, brothers, were indicted by the Suffolk county grand jury for the murder of Ordway R. Hall, manager of a Dorchester Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company branch, two weeks after the killing.
The Indictment likely to be reported today in Suffolk Superior Court charges George Rollins 21 and Charles Rollins 19 with first degree murder in a tea store branch manager killing. Witness Leo McCarthy 12 identifies the brothers as the bandits. George surrendered. Charles was brought in by police. Their attorney claims strong alibis for both, George with a perfect alibi.
Washington March 9 President Wilson probably will be confined in bed at least one more day due to a cold. Dr Cary T Grayson said his fever had disappeared but rest is advised for another day.
The British steamer Mendi carrying South African native laborers sank after a collision off the Isle of Wight on February 21. Ten Europeans and 615 natives were lost. 12 European officers and 191 natives were saved. Premier Louis Botha announced details to Parliament amid delays in confirmation.

In Westbrook Maine on March 9 a frail skiff crewed by four Westbrook Electric Co workers tried for nearly an hour to rescue two drowning dogs trapped on ice near a swift current. The improvised drift boat battled ice cakes and near capsizes as bystanders watched.
Springfield report says Mrs Walter J Maranville wife of Boston Braves shortstop died after illness. She had seemed to improve recently and was with her husband at the end. He planned to leave for Miami training camp soon.
New York March 9 News says J Pierpont Morgan head of a major banking house applied for life insurance totaling $2,500,000. The sum is described as the largest individual life policy ever sought and the risk divided among several big insurers.
Dr Joe V Meigs longtime medical examiner for Middlesex county and noted surgeon died at age 50 after a sudden shock at his Lowell home He had visited Yorick Club earlier in the day where he served as president and appeared well before collapsing in the reading room at 8 45 this evening

Frank Curro of 48 Common Street acted as peacemaker during a revolver duel on Common Street. He was shot in the side below the heart and taken to General Hospital on the dangerous list. the two duellists escaped. Curro is married with a family and not expected to live.
