Father Kills Himself After Daughter's Theft Arrest
Ralph Seither of New York killed himself in Newark after learning his 4 year old daughter Mary was arrested for stealing 15 dollars. Seither, separated from his wife, drank carbolic acid in despair. The girl was arraigned. the judge remitted the $15 fine and released her.

Escape attempt by Parslow precedes double hanging
Samuel Parslow who faces execution with Mrs Cordelia Poirier for murder tried to escape last night after leaving his cell when guards were away. Poirier, an organist, requested her parlor organ be brought to the jail to perform the death service. In Montreal the hanging is scheduled for tomorrow at St Scholastique with a curtain between them.
