Peabody Burns Letters From London Visit Requests
The editor of the Boston Post reports that George Peabody, soon to sail for England, cannot read or answer thousands of loan and charity requests from his ten month stay in Britain. He privately assigns the task of handling such letters to others and has destroyed nearly four thousand upon his initials. Editors are asked to publish the notice.
