Antiquity of the Glacial Period Examined by Shaler

Professor N S Shaler spoke to the Natural History Society on Berkeley Street about the antiquity of the glacial period and the possibility of new glaciation. He argued ice forms are forming on hillsides and that, after early glaciers retreated, the land rose from submerged conditions, influencing flora such as walnuts 600 miles north. He dismissed Indians carrying nuts as transit and presented Alpine photographs, while N M Davis outlined the Triassic Connecticut formations.
