A large explosion at a Quebec laboratory connected to the military magazine at noon today left Captain Milon and thirteen privates at work on cartridges. The building was blown apart, many houses rattled, and windows and partitions destroyed from St. John to Palace Street. The ruins burned near a powder magazine with 10 to 12 men missing. Captain Mahon and a few others were rescued alive.
