Hearing on Hoosac Tunnel consolidation plan discussed

The joint committee held a hearing at the railroad commissioners rooms at 11 A M Tuesday to consider the governors message on Hoosac Tunnel disposition. State Treasurer Gleason urged consolidation of lines into a strong Massachusetts through route with long mortgages to secure permanency and prevent outside control. He outlined a bill authorizing a 25 member corporation to construct or purchase a direct Boston to Williamstown line and urged including the Troy and Greenfield tunnel in the consolidation while protecting fair charges for traffic and connections with New York and Vermont lines.
