Lowell March 2 The governor’s house echoed with hopeful talk as Harriet Greenhalge arrived with her sisters to support Mrs Greenhalge amid a taxing period. Doctors reported the governor rested well despite two dyspneic episodes, with steady improvement and a favorable outlook on his recovery.
The Rev Dr Dowse opened the session with prayer for the Governor and his family. The Senate and House adopted resolutions with suspending rules expressing deep sympathy for Governor Frederick T Greenhalge and praying for his speedy recovery and return to duty.
A rare night town meeting in Somerville with 53 000 residents faced moderator challenges as Alderman Jones reluctantly accepted the post. Debates focused on a proposed constitutional amendment linking ballot rights to national elections and potential impacts on universal suffrage. A plan was set to form a five member committee to address West End street railway service and free transfers before the meeting adjourned.

Building loss estimated at $250000 total loss near $750000 with full insurance.
The president sent nominations to the Senate naming Commodore Thomas C. Selfridge as rear admiral of the navy Medical Inspector Thomas N. Peneces as medical director of the navy Albert Bogollins as postmaster at Georges Mass C Horton Johnson as postmaster at Vineyard Haven Massachusetts and other appointments.
Revere residents backed theCitizens ticket in a landslide with two Republicans elected Alfred S Hai and William H Lawrence to one year posts. The ballot also produced a new slate for selectmen and town offices, signaling changes in police staffing and liquor law enforcement, with ex Chief Ray tipped for the top of the police department.
In Melrose on March 2 a heavy vote of 1725 was polled. Rev Oliver A Roberts defeated John O Norris for the School Board by 1072 to 683, with Roberts supported by the A P A. Republicans won four of eight selectmen seats. Democrats won one. Other elected officials included E K Bordman town clerk, George Newhall treasurer, Addison Lane tax collector, and George C Stanttal assessor. On liquor, 261 voted yes to 995 no.

Voted to borrow 17000 The Van Choate Electric Company buildings tax abated and sale of steam fire engine pound and part of the poor farm approved.
