Gothenburg liquor system as proposed substitute for licenses
About 200 attendees gathered at Huntington Hall to hear the Gothenburg system for liquor sales. The plan would grant a single stock corporation control over all city liquor outlets, with 5 percent dividend, charitable donations of excess profits, strict managerial standards, and no lounge facilities. Advocates cited local option and reduced harms, with support from ex-Governor Brackett and clergy.
