Foreclosure Sale Seals Des Moines Osceola Southern Rail

The Des Moines Osceola and Southern railroad was sold at foreclosure for 750000 dollars to bondholders led by New England investors. The line built in 1884 faced early receivership and operating losses, with plans to convert to standard gauge and extend the route from Des Moines to Kansas City and Gainesville Missouri. Bondholders may issue new bonds at lower interest to reorganize and finance gauge changes and expansions.
