Massachusetts Senate Examines Rail Pass Bill and Town Annexation

In the Senate a bill was introduced to require steam railroad corporations to grant free travel to elected legislators. Petitions asked for powers for cities to raise funds for recruiting. The House refused to concur with Harvard Overseers and elected Studley of Boston and Sweetser of Worcester. A bill would detach part of Stoughton to join Sharon. The General Court was referred back on the South Reading Railroad petition to unite with the Eastern Railroad.
