Trainmen and Officials Enter Boston & Maine Talks
William T. Doherty of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen says the major issue is working conditions on the Boston & Maine system. No wage scale has been presented though some employees want a nine hour day for brakemen and conductors and eight hours for engineers with higher pay. Negotiations with General Superintendent Charles E. Lee are ongoing with grievances already presented and under consideration.

Trustees May Sell The Slater Mills
The Supreme Judicial Court ruled the Slater Mills trustees may sell the trusts assets after determining 1910 distributions and tax implications. It held that final probate approval, not merely initial transfers, marks a distribution for tax purposes, quashing Boston and other towns claims. The decision notes trustee misconduct risks and approves selling only stock while holding bonds, due to fiduciary duty and beneficiary protection.
