City Hall Loan Bill Sparks Discontent Across Wards

City Aldermen voiced disappointment over the loan bill with claims of local bias. East Boston sees little or modest allocations for gymnasiums and street work, while Ward 8 and Ward 9 receive large sums for rooms, paving, and sidewalks. The board pledged to avoid old favoritism and move toward district-based appropriations, with school additions eyed at about 505000 pending district details. Some amendments failed, including cuts to summer baths and a Dorchester boat landing, and a Chelsea bridge project was defeated.
