For nine days he has fought a severe infection with oxygen therapy and intensive care. today his breathing improved and he slept. Fever fell from 104 to about normal as he nears recovery.

Fifty Natives Killed in Guam Guadaloupe Bombardment

At Guadaloupe this morning the captured gunboat La Guna de Rey was used against insurgents. Fifty natives were killed as Lieutenant Scott's Sixth Artillery supported the bombardment. Rebels grow active at Caloocan and Malabon as they plan to mount a battery before Malabon church. Reports say Iloilo British consulate burned and Cebu natives retreated to hills to avoid American bombardment.

Thieves Raid Brockton Jewelry Store for 1200

Two unknown men entered Gurney Bros. at Main and Sehoo streets in Brockton and escaped with a tray of diamonds valued at 1200. The tray contained twenty stones including a 160 diamond personal to Merton Gurney. Police searched the area but found no trace of the suspects.
