Chorus Rehearsals Advance for Boston Jubilee

The first Boston Chorus section begins rehearsals on March 15 with member tickets ready this morning. After next week three series are planned, possibly a fourth, and 225 sopranos 200 altos 175 tenors and 226 basses are already in for Saturday sessions.

Creswick Hamlet Delights Boston Theatres

The final Boston appearance of Mr William Creswick as Hamlet drew an audience small in number but large in praise. Critics call his Hamlet a refined, original performance, free of routine, and the Boston Theatre company provided strong support. Also highlighted were Mr Lang and Mendelsohn Quintette Club at Globe Theatre with notable piano and cello interpretation, Italian Opera at Stakosch Theatre, and a busy night of plays across Boston venues with Burlesque and Shakespearean offerings.

Council meeting notes appoint new library committee

President Dickinson chaired the regular weekly meeting. Ward Sixteen’s Mr Buroitt was named to the Public Library Committee in place of Mr Bradt who was excused. Election for Overseers of the Poor chose James L. Little Thomas Blassand Francis E. Parker and George Fabyan amid scattered votes.

An annual meeting seeks an independent board of assessors to cut taxes. Police court reports James Shea jailed four months for assault on George Shean.
