Yale defeats Harvard 7 to 2 to claim the intercollegiate baseball championship after a decisive win in the fourth to sixth innings. Coburn pitched a solid game as Yale capitalized on Harvard errors and weak defense to secure the title for the Blue.
In South Thomaston Maine Mrs Annie Bishop of Rockland aged 41 was found dead at James Malony home with a deep head wound and finger cuts. James Malony is held as a witness and his son John Malony 40 is under arrest on suspicion as investigators probe conflicting accounts and liquor presence.
After 21 years in Charlestown prison Thomas Lowe, who killed 15 year old Nellie Sullivan of Andover, was denied a pardon by the Governor's council. The unanimous decision followed opposition from the Sullivan family. At last week’s hearings, Sullivan relatives opposed clemency.
The Gloucester gasoline seiner Columbia, with captains Henry Pembroke and James Eler, caught fire near the harbor entrance and burned to the water as they escaped in a dory. The boat sank before they reached the harbor. the McKee searched extensively but found no trace of boat or crew. Vessel valued at seven tons, built in Gloucester a year ago, insured for 1400 dollars.
In Plymouth Judge Gaskill sentenced Antonio Carpinito and James del Grosso to life in Charlestown State Prison. The murder of Brockton police officer Thomas B. Malloy followed an attempt to arrest the pair on Feb 8 for stealing street railway company property. Trial occurred at a special session with a guilty verdict on June 9.
The President spends a full Cambridge day with Massachusetts Hall events to Hollis Hall Sanders Theatre and the Germanic Museum. He attends the undergraduate luncheon at Harvard Union and an alumni dinner at Memorial Hall before a Somerset Club dinner. Tomorrow he travels to Oyster Bay.
President Roosevelt arrived in Cambridge to reunite with old classmates from five and twenty years ago. Despite heavy rain and muddy streets he appeared cheerful, signaling his pride in being a Harvard man again and greeting well-wishers along the day.

Secretary of War William H. Taft arrived in Boston from New Haven and will meet President Roosevelt at the Harvard commencement to discuss issues surrounding the Panama Canal. Taft’s visit follows a Yale commencement appearance and concerns the Canal Commission and Chief Engineer Wallace’s resignation.

A waterlogged two masted schooner Edward L Warren of Searsport was found 80 miles south of Nantucket Shoal by the Norwegian steamer Kong Frode. Captain Closson and three sailors were rescued as the Warren limped toward possible sinking in a north Atlantic gale. The rescuers reported a prior sighting of the six masted George W Wells, which had attempted to aid but lost a yawl, while the Warren’s masts and rigging lay tangled amid wreckage. The Warren, valued around 5000 dollars, measured 92 feet 4 inches in length with 124 tons net, built in Searsport in 1882.
