Edward Victor Gambier banker testified in New York on June 26 in the divorce suit brought by Edith Russell Gambier former Atlanta society girl. He had not advanced far when the session adjourned and will resume tomorrow morning.

Rumors persist in railroad circles that George L. K. French may become general superintendent of the Portland division of the Boston and Maine, with C. E. Lee and Frank Barr possibly reassigned. Thieves looted C. G. Flynn at 1 Lindsay Street Dorchester taking valuables worth over 25000. Every room was ransacked drawers opened curtains torn silver scattered ornaments stolen and much destruction reported.
Police showed little progress in a suspected burglary at the Flynn residence on Lindsay Street. Neighbors valued the treasure at about 25000 dollars, while the house itself cost around 40000 dollars. Patrolman McNeily found the scene in disarray and two men seen nearby with heavy packs offered the only lead, which yielded no results.
The Somerville school board raised Charles S. Clark’s superintendent salary to 3500 dollars, a 500 dollar increase. John A. Avery was chosen master of the combined high schools at 2100 dollars, with a maximum set at 3200 dollars.

Thomas Kerr of New York dies from burns sustained trying to rescue Helen Wilson and Mildren De Haven during a fire at a party hosted by Thurlow Weed Barnes II. Kerr and Barnes’ valet Ulysse Pahud also perished. two guests escaped by jumping into the water.
